Mother and father have have been left too terrified to let their youngsters go out after a 14-year-old boy was stabbed while answering the door in Manchester.

The teenager is at present preventing for life in hospital following the 'sickening attack' yards from two main faculties in the& Levenshulme& area at round 8pm on Monday.

A 15-year-old boy and 41-year-old lady have each been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Both stay in police custody to be quizzed by detectives.

One lady, who did not need to be named, stated: 'I'm shocked. There's two faculties right here, a church, a park. There's so many youngsters 'It's scary to assume anybody would do this to anyone but notably to a 14-year-old youngster. It's completely disgusting.'

A man who also lives near the scene stated: 'The primary we heard about it was once they got here at about 9pm last night time. I wasn't right here however my associate was.

'They came again this morning and took our CCTV footage. They stated somebody had been stabbed that was it. We haven't watched it so we're unsure if it exhibits something.

'It's just surprising. I have 4 youngsters including a 14-year-old son as properly. It's not good. Actually surprising and really scary. It makes you fearful about them being out and about.

'We now have been here for the last six years and there have been small issues, broken windows and so forth, but nothing like this. That is the primary massive factor like this to happen. So it's actually scary.'

One other mum stated: 'I used to be at residence with son, doing his homework and we heard the sirens. Then we appeared out and will see all the police. I didn't hear anything earlier than that.

'The police came spherical and asked us for any footage, and stated somebody had been stabbed but didn't inform us anymore. However to hear it's a younger boy is an enormous shock.

'My son is 15 years previous so it's very worrying. Very scary. It makes me not need to let him out on this space. I gained't let him out of my sight now.'

A Higher Manchester Police spokesperson stated: 'At around 8pm on Monday,February 26, officers have been referred to as to studies of a stabbing at an handle on Stovell Avenue, Manchester.

'It was reported that a 14-year-old boy had been stabbed and significantly injured after answering a knock on the door.

'The boy was taken to hospital where he remains in a important condition.'

Detectives say they consider it to be a 'targeted attack' and that there is 'no danger to the wider public'.

Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Davies stated: 'This can be a really sickening attack on a younger boy which has left him in a crucial situation in hospital.

'I want to reassure the group that our investigation is progressing at a pace and this morning two individuals, a 15-year-old boy and a 41-year-old female, have been arrested on suspicion of tried murder.

'Enquiries proceed to piece collectively the complete circumstances of what has occurred and who is concerned in the assault. We consider this can be a focused assault and there's no danger to the broader public.'

Officers have been going door-to-door and asking for CCTV or doorbell digital camera footage as their enquiry 'progresses at a tempo'.
